Teach Your Kids Money Management And See It Pay Off
Kids money management is so important, we are told time and time again as adults how important it is to make sure we look after our finances. Yet if we had been brought up to know more about finances and how to avoid certain situations the chances are that we wouldn’t need to be as worried as we are today!
For a lot of children their education is good, they leave school or college or even university and know a lot about the subjects that they studied. Yet they don’t know how to budget or how to repay their student loan without leaving themselves with no money to pay the rent or the grocery bill.
By teaching kids the value of money and how to make sure that they know how to use it when they are older you will be preventing them from making big mistakes as they get older. After all you don’t want to have to be helping them out of debt when they are older.
Children love to learn, when you’re out shopping with your toddler explain that everything in the store costs money and that money is given to you when you do things for the company you work for. Keep this in their minds as they grow and explain that their gifts on their birthday have to be paid for, you’ll find this knowledge will prevent a lot of discussions when they keep asking for something too expensive.
When your kids grow older you can into more detail about banks, loan agreements, basic budgeting when you love alone. Tell them how to find good deals and not get ripped off by companies who are just after their money.
One of the things all parents need to do is to do as you do, in other words if you tell them that keeping out of debt is important then make sure you do the same! There is nothing worse than a child saying they did something because they saw you do it. After all you don’t want them bankrupt by the time they’re 30.
So tell yourself to do the right thing and your kids will want to follow suit.
